OBSESSED! Location is perfect. The inside makes you feel like you are legit in someone's home - very warm and super friendly. Portions are generous. Best homefries EVER. Love the authentic german items. New to the area - been here 2 times in 3 days.

You had me at "good morning"! I know that I am always honest in my reviews and have never stated what I didn't sincerely believe. With Cypress Nook - I was so blown away the first two visits that I figured one more time before I leave a review and today - they did it again ---- fantastic, delicious, awesome pricing and the best service! I had the eggs Benedict and OMG, It's was so tasty - perfect amount of hollandaise sauce, toasted muffins and hash browns to die for. My server was very sweet and fast! This is now my very favorite place in broward county to eat breakfast. Btw, I am a neurotic about cleanliness and they have a spotless dining room and I peeked into the kitchen are and it was also absolutely spotless... Wow, hats off! I really thought my first two visits were a fluke and they showed me they ARE the best breakfast in Broward!

The Cypress Nook makes great homemade food and German specialties. I have only been for breakfast, their food quality is great, they make excellent sausages and kielbasa. They also have an real fresh squeezed Orange and Tangerine juice. The place is very cute, the restaurant is small, the decor is rustic and the dining room has a old rustic kitchen feel. Service is fast and friendly. It is a local favorite, expect a wait on the weekends.

The location is definitely a nook! It was a small but quaint place. The staff was great and the food came out pretty quickly. My family had the French Toast, pork chop breakfast and Kielbasa breakfast. Everything was made to our liking!

Great German food! Nice Biergarten as well! They have evening specials and discounts for repeat customers. Michael, one of the proprietors, handles the evening kitchen himself. This place is a real treat. Koestlich!

I have a serious LOVE for German food and the Cypress Nook did not disappoint. My father has been raving about this place for weeks because he goes there on a weekly basis, so we had to check it out. It's a super quant little place - makes you feel like you are not in Florida but maybe somewhere up in the north. You seat yourself and as soon as you enter the staff was incredibly welcoming. Because it is open until 2, you can get breakfast or lunch. I opted for breakfast and had two eggs scrambled, potatoes, green beans, and a kielbasa, which was super tasty. The other members in my party had liver and onions and French toast - all equally excellent. Oh, and the red cabbage - SO good!! Portions were a great size for a good price and the service was relatively fast, considering it was packed with people. It's a tiny little place, but so welcoming and really does have some awesome food! I would definitely recommend the Cypress Nook!

This place is great. I love the feeling of a good authentic german restaurant. I had the tangerine juice which is seasonal and so yummy! For breakfast I had the brats, eggs and hash browns. All so amazing. The brats were perfect, even the hash brown was simple but delicious. Can't wait to bring the boyfriend's family here when they come down.

Needed a different place for dinner...so went to Yelp for help. Glad someone posted pictures of the pretzel because that will get me every time! Was a little apprehensive when we walked in. Space is very small, but there is outdoor seating. Wasn't sure if we seat ourselves or wait. We were just about to seat ourselves when someone greeted us and seated us. We ordered the giant pretzel. They were out, but brought us 2 medium ones. Let me say this...the medium were huge! They were delish and light. Sometimes large pretzels are dense, but these were not. I would have liked a little of a less sweet mustard, but the mustard was good. I had the chicken weinersnitzel jäger style. YUM! The chicken was super tender. I had sauerkraut and a potato pancake. I loved my dinner. Husband has the pork shank. It fell off the bone and he said it was delicious and tender. He ordered green beans and noodles. Both cooked perfect. Why only 4 stars? Soda in a can $2.25 per can. Drives me a little nutty. Service was wonderful. Looking forward to going back again. Love mom and pop places.

Best German food in Fort Lauderdale. Tiny little place but full of charm. Family owned and operated. Get there early to grab a table and enjoy some great German beer (bottles only).

A very quaint, intimate and friendly place awaits you in this neighborhood of Pompano Beach. Sitting right on East McNab Road, this place as some of the best german food you will every enjoy. The menu is extensive and I'm entirely certain they are experts in every single item on it. They also have a few daily specials to consider. On this visit, we began our meal with a couple of german biers I can't remember and german pretzel served with a delicious honey mustard. We moved on to our entrees. My husband ordered a daily special that was for all intensive purposes a beef pot roast in au jus so tender it melted in your mouth. As his two sides, he chose mashed potatoes and string beans, the vegetable of the day. I requested the sauerbraten and my two sides were sauerkraut and german potato salad. The sauerbraten was incredible and the sauce served with it wonderful. The sauerkraut was actually creamy and was like no other I've every had. The german potato salad was good but could've been a bit more tart for my liking. Michael was our server and he can tell you anything you need to know about the menu and all things german. His service was fast and attentive. If you like great german food, you have to go no further than this wonderful place near the beach.

Searched for good breakfast, this place is worth it! Amazing home fries, just like I would make at home! Nice German flavor on food, bacon was very good thin and crispy! Bagels were great, French toast had very good eggy taste. Scrambled eggs were the only thing not so good, must have been egg beaters, but if you order over easy than its fresh egg. Portions were large and satisfying. Creamer tasted so good like whipped cream. Very small space inside so prepare to wait. I would could back again!

Ordered over medium eggs and it came out with the egg white runny. Sent it back and came out the same way the 2nd time. My food was siting in the window getting old while the eggs were being re cooked. Sent back a 2nd time and they just put the eggs back on the grill and cooked the yolk as well. Talked to the owner and she spoke with the cooks and they said I was a "fus put" and they would only take a drink off. I just wanted my eggs correct and never happened.

Went for dinner. Love the outdoor atmosphere in an unassuming neighborhood! Beer was cold, food was great. I especially enjoyed the giant fresh pretzels & potato pancakes with applesauce and dill sour cream. Not many authentic German restaurants in South Florida & this one's a gem!
(5)

Standard breakfast fare, not an authentic german restaurant. Having a German last name and a Flag doesn't make you a real German restaurant. Very small place where you eat inches away from your neighbor. Nothing special, but very consistently ok. Brats are so-so and coffee was forgettable. Service was good and portions were good. Price was fair and parking was free, as it should be.

Not sure why I have never checked in or reviewed the Nook before. I live down the street. Ordered take out tonight. As always starting with the jumbo Bavarian pretzel. Having the rind roast braten and the chicken zuricher geschnetzeftes. Also ordered homemade kase spaetzle.

This place is just what it is a small little quaint place, hands down one of the best breakfasts in town. Locals love it, bring cash because they do not take credit cards.

Einn A.
food ordered: 6oz pork chop, country hash, 2 eggs, toast, side of kielbasa sausage and orange juice food: pork chop was on the drier side... but nothing steak sauce couldn't save... country hash, eggs and toast are pretty standard breakfast fare.... nothing too special about the kielbasa except that it came with a large service of mustard. orange juice was fresh squeezed. parking: small lot in the back of the restaurant. misc: there are a few tables in the patio area that can be used. it was a drizzy day when we went, so sat inside. interior ambiance felt like the inside of a cottage. very cozy.

Best breakfast and best lunch. Food is always delicious and we have been going there since early 90's . The owner is always very friendly and welcoming and she is in her restaurant every single day. That shows her commitment to quality and great service.

Best breakfast in Pompano: THIS IS IT. If you say "Cypress Nook breakfast" to any local, watch them dissolve into a puddle of slobber. You will wait at least 30 minutes on the weekend, but expect an hour or more. Don't sweat it. Order a $4 mimosa and hang out on the outdoor tables and relax. If you're impatient, go somewhere else, because this place is not for you. I live and die for the eggs benedict, but if you want the real experience, order the kielbasa and bratwurst breakfast plate. Make time in your schedule to have an early afternoon nap. Service is often slow, but the personal touches make all the difference. A good example: at a recent breakfast, my husband finished his soda, and the kind hostess brought him an ice water without being asked. The prices are inexpensive, and you pay more in time spent--but it is worth every penny. Also, beer at breakfast? YES.

The place is pretty nice. Definitely not fancy, but very pleasant and with a very attentive service. The food was cooked well, prices and portion sizes were reasonable.

We had the sausage/bratwurst plate. The potato salad and red cabbage sides we had had an interesting and tasty flavor. I guess the only disappointing aspects were the following: 1) It was extremely loud in here and claustrophobic. I think many people go for the quaint, little home feel of the restaurant. However, I was having real trouble talking at all to my husband. And when I did, we were kind of afraid our nearby neighbors could hear everything we were saying. 2) We had to wait as this is a popular but small restaurant. 3) They had no beers on tap, but a few bottle selections. Nevertheless, I still have to give it 4 stars because of the quality of the food, and the downhome feel of the place. The hostess even said goodbye to me using my name. Wow, in this day and age, and this area of the country, that was amazing!

Ordered the German sausage combo with an extra knockwurst and my eggs over medium which came out over easy. There goes the first star--who can't cook an over medium egg?? The tomatoes were fresh but 2 slices were good and the 3rd was rock hard. The iced was mediocre but I've had worse. I asked the super nice waitress if the wursts I had (bratwurst, knockwurst and kielbasa) were made on the premises and they are not. I fail to see how store bought wursts qualify as "German Cuisine" because buying them, heating them and marking them up 400% isn't cuisine, it's crap. NOT the experience I was expecting. The only reason this isn't a 1 star review is because the waitresses were SO nice that I couldn't do it, but this isn't German Cuisine, it's faux German and not worth the money or the trip. Factor in the screaming baby that drowned out everything else in the restaurant and it was the breakfast from hell. I videoed the screaming baby and I'm posting it on You Tube on my "Unfit Parents" channel, a little parent shaming might inspire them to keep their noisy brat under wraps. Why would you bring a baby to an "upscale" breakfast place to ruin everyone's meal? HIRE A SITTER!!

Came here with friends, after my flight from New York City. We thought the breakfast was good- Eggs & Knockwurst, And my friend ordered Blueberry Pancakes. The place is small and there is seating outside. The staff could not be nicer, they seemed to be very hard working people. All in all, we will come back with the 1/2 Off coupon we saw in the Pompano Beach & Lighthouse Point booklet. I can't think of a bad thing to say about this place - just don't expect anything fancy - a flip flop and shorts kind of place.

Cypress Nook was a great find! A warm atmosphere (although small ... probably 10 tables inside and 4 outside), the owner/manager was very welcoming and knowledgeable about German food, and the schnitzel, spaetzel, gurkensalat (cucumber salad), and wursts were delicious and reasonably priced. We visited for dinner but I've also heard great things from friends about C.N.'s breakfast. The restaurant is somewhat hard to find and off the beaten path, but worth the trip! We will be back for sure.

I returned here for dinner, and everything was awesome. I ordered the porkloin (schweinebraten), carrots and sauerkraut. I had a couple bottles of Spaten. My guest ordered the bratwurst, german potato salad and sauerkraut. The schweinbraten was terrific. It was juicy and mouth-watering. The carrots were steamed and glazed with cinnamon. The Cypress Nook offers a generous portion, and I packaged half of my meal. Subsequently, the take-home portion tasted equally good the next day as the juices settled. My guest had the apple strudel with vanilla ice cream, and I had German chocolate cake. It was a black forest torte cake (Schwarzwald), and it was moist, rich and quite possibly the highlight of my dinner. I highly recommend this dessert. I have had German food at several South Florida locales, and this was my best experience.

Excellent breakfast. My boyfriend's family has been coming here for years & years. I made my first visit on our last vacation and can see why! The staff is friendly and attentive. My eggs and hash browns were delicious and others had their giant pancakes. They pour a great mimosa too!

Amazing authentic German food. Haven't had such a great German meal since I was in Germany. The service was fantastic and appears to be family-owned and operated. Upon ordering a Radler (which wasn't on the menu but I was familiar with from visiting Germany) the owner came out and asked in German me if I spoke German. From then on, I knew the night would be one to remember, and it was. The Radlers were delicious. The food was as well. We had the giant pretzel which came with curry mustard and ordered the beer cheese dip. Mix the two for a taste explosion. The kaze spaetzle is a noodle dish that is both light and fulfilling all at the same time. The potato pancakes are some of the best I've ever had. Can wait to go back and try more dishes of their menu! Highly recommend!

I am only grading breakfast that is the only meal I have had. The place is adorable and the staff is very friendly. However the food takes a really long time and frankly it's not worth the wait. We ordered 1 piece of sausage with one of the breakfasts and it was the size of a quarter? They don't have many breakfast combinations either, and the food is normal, nothing special. The price is also too high for what you get. We had breakfast for 3 and it as over 30 bucks. I'm sure their authentic German food is better per the raves on Yelp about it.

Best grits in town!!! Elsa is the best hostess. Need to go back soon.... The wait is worth it, get there early....

Very, very bad service needs more waiters and chefs food was watery and the wait was unbearable! If I were you I would just eat dirt instead.
Delicious! Portions are huge!!! Had the schnitzel (pork) and it was so tender. The hackbraten was also amazing! The atmosphere is quaint and authentic. Will definitely be coming back to this little hidden gem.

Omg homemade lemonade!! Yum awesome. Super refreshing!! I had a lunch special with chicken nuggets with one side or two sides. I decided to have one side. My side was German potato salad. Let's just say it is on point. I've had tons of German potato salads and this one along with my grandpa is amazing!! Fantastic!! Wow I loved it. The nuggets were pan fried not oily which is super rare to find nuggets that lately fried and pan fried. It was super nice to finally have something not deep fried. I'm very proud of this place. I would recommend this to anyone. I can't wait to try their breakfast. I'll update on the breakfast next time I come in.

My second time at the cypress nook. This place is all about authentic German food, so I would suggest sticking with the German choices; the wursts, sauerkraut, potato salad, etc. The building doesn't seat a lot of people and can be busy on he weekends, but if you have a craving for good authentic food, this is where you go.

Had a couple of Groupons so took the family last night. They would not split the check so we could use both(they were just following the rules, even though some other places let you do it) so it limited our order. We started with a pretzel, which was very tasty, but I was disappointed that they did not have the Bier Cheese dip. Soft, Chewy, Warm, and quite salty. For dinner, I split the Deuscht Wurst Platter with my wife while my daughter and daughter-in-Law split the Speatzel. The Sausages were superb, as was the sauerkraut & potato salad. The Speatzel on the other hand, was bland and tasteless. We had to ask for some hot sauce just to give it some flavor. We finished the meal off with one of the best Apple Streudels I have ever tasted, other than the fact that it was cold(even tho the waiter told us it would take a few minutes to get out of the oven). Overall, I was pleased with the service and the food. I will be returning soon to use the other groupon, and I am thinking about getting the Schweinhaxe(Ham Hock)next time.

My husband and I just discovered Cypress Nook via a Groupon that was about to expire. Blink and you'll miss it while driving on McNab Road, this tiny restaurant is tucked away basically under a bridge. The staff there was very friendly, even holding onto my husband's credit card through the entire next day after he left if there by accident! The menu has more than enough choices. We both had wurst plates covered in their delicious curry sauce as well as red cabbage on the side. I also had sauerkraut while he had the potatoes with parsley. I have to say that I did not care for their version of red cabbage because it seemed almost creamy. However, my husband seemed to really enjoy it. The meal was more than enough food, especially after having a few beers each to accompany it. I chose to give Cypress Nook three stars because I could not stop comparing it to Old Heidelberg in Fort Lauderdale and Checkers Old Munchen, also in Pompano Beach. I really enjoy the food at atmosphere at both of those restaurants. Cypress Nook has no bar inside so you cannot come there just for a drink/Happy Hour which we were kind of looking for after work on a Friday night. You also have to know that the bathrooms are outside in an adjoining building. Not a big deal for us, but I probably would have been unhappy if it was pouring rain or cold outside.

I moved here from Cincinnati, Ohio where there is a large German heritage, and I have been to many small bier gardens and the famous Hafbrau hause, and I can honestly say this place is the best German restaurant I've ever been to.

We've been eating breakfast for many years. Recently they started offering dinner at nite calling it Nook at Nite. We were really excited because the breakfast food is amazing. If anyone could do an authentic German meal it would be the crew at the Nook. It was everything we hoped for. Great red cabbage. Yummy schnitzel and delicious spaetzel. If you're looking for a new place to try and enjoy authentic German cuisine then give Nook at Nite a try.

Arrived 5 minutes after evening opening time, 5pm, the line filled the house. Took an outside picnic table, had beautiful German music playing and enjoyed the end of the day. Do not pass up the pretzels and a real German beer to start the meal. Continued on with Schnitzel for my wife and I had a combo of wursts - all authentic, great flavors and good sized. All of the sides are great, red cabbage, German style potato salad and all of the rest. But, to make it a great evening, some of the best apple strudel this side of the Atlantic Ocean. Do not miss this place, they try hard and it shows.

We were vacationing in Florida and tried the Cypress Nook after being told it served the 'best breakfast in the world.' It doesn't. My wife's scrambled eggs were runny, hardly cooked. She maybe ate a forkful or two before she had to stop. The hash browns weren't anything to get excited about either. Cheap jam (not even Smuckers) for the bread. I had the kielbasa and bratwurst breakfast. My eggs were cooked properly, but there wasn't anything too great about any part of my meal. It certainly was not the best in the world. I'm starting to wonder if Floridians place value ($) above all else in their evaluations. Because the breakfast I received for $8.49 was a great value, but the food wasn't that great. So, if price is your definitive measure, the Cypress Nook is pretty good, but I suspect you can do just as well at Denny's, without the wait. Don't believe the hype. The prices are right, but the food is marginal. At least during our one trip to the Cypress Nook. Note: Always check Yelp's 'Filtered Reviews.' One of the businesses I reviewed has a 1-star rating with only 1 review, but there are 5 'filtered' (hidden) reviews averaging 4.8 stars!

Took my staff here for breakfast out on a limb. That limb proved to bear alot of fruit! Huge portions.. Super tastey... Mom and Pop type service-- and after feeding four we finished up under 40$ .. Great!!-- Since I was buying! Took my wife in for dinner and same great service, awesome sauer kraut and braut... Beer that was recommended was also very tastey and ambiance was great! We went back another time and with our children, they were very accomidating, getting crayons for them and helping us keep them distracted... even though they certainly did not have to! Loved it, and interestingly enough until I ate here I was not a fan of german food- Neither was my wife!!

This place is so killer, I can't even know where to being. it's great for lunch and dinner. There might be some older folks there, but that's a good thing in thing in this instance. If I remember correctly, this is cash only. Good homecooked ethnic food with good service and a content feeling after you clear your plate! Awesome German food in S. FL.

I discovered this place through Groupon and have returned on a number of occasions, referred to friends and brought out of town guests who equally enjoyed it! It is a quaint place, we seen it full and were the only ones there on one occasion...regardless, whatever we (my fiancee and I) ordered, it was delic! We do always order the "Farmer breakfast" appetizer...you could have it alone as a meal but we always eat half and bring the rest home for next morning breakfast with eggs. Can't comment on how "authentic" the dishes are prepared but the red cabbage, German potato salad, schnitzel, bratwurst, sauerbraten are very tasty!

We returned to the Cypress Nook after six months or so since or last visit and were terribly disappointed... Maybe a new cook? The Farmers Appetizer which used to be chock full of bits of schinken & wurst was now mostly bread. The schweinbraten gravy, was no longer rich and thick. It was a thin watery imitation... My husband ordered his favorite, the pork jagerschnitzel and said it was blah. Same owner, same gigantic portions, but I'd rather not have a gargantuan plate full, and eat a delicious authentic meal. I hope it was an anomaly but I'll give them a while to fix the kitchen before we return.

Locals kinda place. Feels like a lodge and small. Was in the area, looking for a quaint breakfast spot (no DD, starbucks type). Interesting interior, felt like a swiss lodge(? never been to one but I imagine thats what it would be) but apparently is a German restaurant. No WiFi but they take credit cards. Specials written on board, I tried the spinach omelette with potatoes and tangerine juice. It was satisfying. Would I come here again? Not really anything special. Only if in the area again or would be interested to try there German cuisine for dinner.

I have been coming here for decades and it is still the best little breakfast joint in town. Friendly and fast service and an excellent value. The parking can be a little rough if it is busy, and you may have to wait outside during peak times, but the table turnover is very quick. They serve your standard breakfast fare, a few of the dishes have a German flair such as their bratwurst and eggs! At lunch they do German fare and do a very nice job. They are open for dinner on select nights, call ahead to get more details on dinner. Definitely a must if you are a local or happen to be in the area.

This place is great! We tried it out on Groupon and I am glad we did. It's definitely off the beaten path so it's a hidden treasure. It may take a little longer for your food to come out than other places but that is because someone is in the back is making your food with love! I would recommended getting an appetizer to start. I told my boyfriend it reminded me of being over someone's grandma's house for dinner that really knows how to cook. I have tried the Schnitzel Jager Style & Curry Chicken with Pineapple and both were great . And I love the sides... can't go wrong with the Oma's red cabbage, sauerkraut, cucumber salad, and German potato pancake. Auf Wiedersehen!

Tried this old favorite for lunch again today (Aug 10). The German food at night is excellent. The keyword for Cypress Nook is value. Your plate is full and, subsequently, your belly, for a very reasonable price. I had the Nova Omelet for $8.99. It had 4-5 ounces of smoked salmon inside and took up half the plate while my hash browns covered the other half. My teenage daughter, who reminisced about the M&M Pancakes (still have 'em) back when she used to need a high-chair, ordered the bagel and cream cheese with a "side" of bacon - 5 large rashers worth. Her boyfriend had French Toast; four slices. All tallied up, the bill was $29 with drinks. Negatives? Well, they're about to go on vacation at Cypress Nook. Sign on the door says "Vacation Aug 13-Sep 3rd", so hurry on in or...wait. The lidded milk cup on the table is old diner style. I'd 21st Century up some sealed and sanitary Half and Half cups. When the room is full you can't hear anyone well. The servers are very attentive yet in a hurry. All in all, Cypress Nook is an excellent mom-and-pop diner in the am and a quality German restaurant in the pm. And since it's been a local favorite since 1979, they deserve our regular praise and patronage.

Adorable owners/hosts, authentic homemade food, pleasant casual atmosphere, cute tucked away location and very much worth the trip. This hard to find place is a true S Fl gem - and a foodie's delight. Breakfast dishes are filling, made with love and always served fresh and piping hot. Lunches are hearty and there are so many wonderful choices. They're open for dinner now, too - and I can't wait to try it. Yes, you will likely wait - but you will leave with a smile on your face. :)

We had a great lunch at the Cyprus Nook. Prior to going, I looked at the website at the menu, but was pleasantly surprised to see numerous daily specials on the board in addition to the menu options. There were several soup choices (two in my party had the chicken noodle and bean soup which were excellent). Soup and sandwich combos were $8.75. Other entrees ordered in our party were the roladen and schnitzel. The roladen came with two pieces.( If you are not familiar with it, it is beef rolled up with bacon, onions and a small Gerkin inside) which was tender and tasty. For sides, I chose noodles and red cabbage. The cabbage was delicious. The noodles were nothing remarkable. The schnitzel was good as well. Service was friendly and the owner visited every table greeting the patrons. I would suggest if you visit for lunch (and probably dinner) that you go early as the parking lot is not very big.

We were looking for a local breakfast hang and this place looked good in Yelp. We were not disappointed. Food and service were top notch. Even the coffee was nice and strong. We had eggs, pancakes that rival Perkins (my personal fave), raisin French toast, and fresh squeezed juice. We paid $31 including tip but it was worth it.

I had never been here but we were in the area the other day running errands and we just couldn't resist. The parking lot was packed at 10:45 on a Wednesday morning and so was the dining room. We didn't have to wait for a table by the window though and the staff was extremely friendly. I ordered two eggs scrambled with corn beef hash and home fries. I also couldn't pass up the M&M pancakes so I ordered one on the side. They had pretty decent specials as well written on the whiteboard up front that include tea or coffee with your meal for a decent price. The coffee was strong and fresh. This place is so quaint and cute and the owner makes her rounds and make sure to visit everyone to see how their day is going and how they enjoy their meal. This little gem is one of the best kept secrets in this neck of the woods.

We and all our family have been coming here for over 25 years for delicious breakfast and also wonderful German lunch specialties. Excellent food quality and portion sizes at a great price. They have the best staff you'll find in the area too. Go and enjoy yourselves.

I have been here about 6 times for breakfast. Every time I had to wait about 15 minutes for a table but it was worth it. The food is great. Inside you are crammed into a warm room but still, because I like the food I tolerate it. A nice thing is they will let you "taste" a little sample of something before you order it. If I could, I would make it bigger, make better parking and make the methods of payment a bit better.

The family and I decided after so many years of saying we were going to try this place, to stop in for breakfast. We had a 45 minute wait. Not a big deal to me they had complementary coffee for the people waiting. I have waited longer for less. The service was prompt and polite. The dinning room is small and crowded. My son and I ordered the sausage sampler breakfast. The quality of the sausage was good and tasty. My wife ordered one of the specials. The pork chops and eggs. First I don't know why they were the special as it is always on the menu for the same price. The pork chops were dry and flavorless. I would have given two stars but need to give them the benafit of a doubt, and come back for dinner. Over all it was just ok. I hope the dinner is better.

Amazing food! Would have given it a 5 but we were kinda surprised that they refused our credit cards, and that they only take cash at lunch and credit cards at dinner. Would have been ok if we had seen a sign stating this somewhere.

Decided to try it for breakfast since i read so many great reviews. As I walked in, I immediately felt like a just entered a little country cottage. The location of this tiny restaurant is literally 5 minutes from my house so I was super excited to taste the food hoping for a convenient place to chow down. I wanted to order a simple omelette with cheese and jalapeños with a side of crispy home fries. The waitress said I should try the breakfast corned beef hash with eggs so I asked her a real simple question. Is the corned beef canned or did you make it? I asked this because I grew up eating fresh corned beef at local deli's all the time plus it's super easy to make and tastes NOTHING like the canned distrusting stuff. Well.....she said it's canned but it's amazing and she's hooked on it. BOOM!!! Strike 1!! That's a huge strike out considering they are known for serving German food! It also shows laziness as fresh corned beef is so easy to make and doesn't even compare. Anyhow, to make a long story short, my omelette came to the table with a really runny wet center that oozed liquid everywhere and the home fries where extremely inconsistent as some of the potatoes where not even close to being done (hard as a rock). The waitress came to my table and saw what I was talking about and kindly asked if I wanted anything else. At that point I lost my appetite. She kindly didn't charge me for anything. I gave 2 stars because the place is cute and the staff was friendly. I was so looking forward to a great BF.

Hands down the best German food in the county. It is one of two German restaurants I have ever been to in Broward (the other being the long out of business Mother Rhine in Plantation) that tasted like the food I had in Germany. For some reason most German restaurants in South Florida cannot do things like Sauerbratten, red cabbage or spatzle. They do all this and more and it is incredible. If you are going for the first time try the Jagger Schnitzel.

I would really like to give this a 4-5 Star review, but there is something so fundamentally wrong with my visit there that I can't. The food was very good. The service though? We had a waitress that upon arrival to our table was coughing into her hand. Repeatedly. She gave us our menus, out silverware (each piece touched as she set up the setup), our waters, our coffees. She touched everything!. I wanted to say something. I would have said 'go purell and then re-do everything here'. My companion did not want me to do that so I didn't. At one point, the waitress told a customer who knew her that she was not feeling well. Another thing: she took half of our order. I wasn't ready to order. She said I'll come back. 12 minutes went by and I finally went in to get her (we were siting outside). I saw her having a casual conversation with some friends. I asked another waitress and she then got OUR waitress to come out. I can only imagine what portion of our food she may have touched! The owner popped up after we were done. She asked how everything was and gave us a menu to take with. I explained the problem with the server. She listened, but I really didn't get the impression she was all that interested. With the problems on cruise ships and with flu season etc. she needs to advise that sick employees must stay home and there is a right way to cough so as not to contaminate the food, utensils, etc. The waitress should know better than to do what she did. The only reason I stayed and ate is because I want in the bathroom and washed my silverware. Sheesh!

Small and intimate. A lot of care goes into the food and decor. The servings are huge and the meals are delectable.

I actually like this quaint place, hard to find but that's ok, You better get there early because it is busy all the time. The day I went the owner (nice lady) gave us mimosas to celebrate fathers day. The service is fast and the food is good. I could not have asked for more (except the waiting but thats ok since they have coffee outside for you). Oh by the way you need to write your name on the book yourself, don't expect a welcome committee :)

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! The best German Restaurant and Food I have eaten since leaving NJ 13 years ago. The 3 people in our party absolutely loved every meal we ordered. The wursts, goolash and meatloaf were phenomenal. The red cabbage, spaetzele and the warm German potato salad were awesome. The only problem was that there was absolutely NO room for dessert when we were finished eating. We will definitely become regulars at this outstanding restaurant.

Really a quaint spot off the beaten path a little. I've only been here for breakfast but I'm sure lunch and dinner are amazing. The chili omelet is soooooo good. Drink a little too much one night? Come here for some heavy German food. Yum yum. I had the Farmers Omelet and I could barely finish half. All the bacon and potatoes. Oh man. Very reasonably priced as well. Highly recommended.

Sehr Gut!! Wholesome & hearty German food. I ordered a pork dish that could have fed a family of four. Their wide range of dishes seemed to primarily represent the Bavarian tabletop, however they offer a shout-out to their Austria-Hunagarian neighbor's with a Goulash dish that looked pretty appetizing from across the room. Service was great and their selection of bier was tip-top. I felt like I was at Oktoberfest all over again...except this time I remembered most of it.

Best German food in South Florida!! And this is coming from a person whose father ran one of the top German restaurants in Fort Lauderdale for many years. Everything is perfect. It is not a big place, but I think that adds to the experience. Family run business, so the owner will come out and chat, if real busy you will catch him serving as well. We used a restaurant.com GC, but I wouldn't hesitiate to come here w/o one. I told my girl about the red cabbage and she didn't believe me until she tried some. She became hooked, she couldn't believe it tastes so good. We split the HUGE Schweinhaxe. My girl said it is possibly the best entree she ever ordered. Tender meat and unbelievable taste. Along with the Potato Salad, just excellent. Make sure you try a real German beer here, we had a Weiss beer, and it brought me back to Wurzburg during the World Cup in 2006. You don't find this just anywhere. I am so glad they opened up for dinner, my father and I had gone here many times for breakfast and it was our place of choice, but the dinner is a must.

Most authentic German restaurant I've ever been to in S FL. Best Kielbasa hands down!!! Great place to recover from a hang over for breakfast :0) Just remember to bring cash!

Small in size, but a good-sized menu, lots of good service, and comfortable atmosphere for a casual breakfast, brunch of lunch. All the usual items on the menu, but some interesting twists and surprises, too. The tomato, basil and feta omelet was perfectly cooked and the ingredients well balanced. The has browns were crisp on the outside, but the interior was creamy and flavorful. The coffee mug's bottom never showed up the entire time we were there - an absolute necessity for an acceptable breakfast place. Definitely on the list of places to consider next time you're looking for a place to grab eggs and more.

Always delicious. This little one room 12 table breakfast nook, literally, is just great. Ilsa (sp?) the proprietor, has been there for 20 something years and is always nice to the customers.

The food is very good German food! My wife and I recently went there as an after work dinner to kick back, enjoy some good encased meats and German beer and relax. This place is small but quaint and can only seat about 30 people or so. They do have some tables outside but not many and they face the parking lot. As for the food- my wife and I both had curry wursts which were excellent. With any entree they give you 2 sides, and let me tell you- although the red cabbage isn't the traditional German way of making it- it was FANTASTIC. It was a bit creamy and very smooth and flavorful. Definitely a must! They also have 1 beer on tap - which just so happened to be Spaten which is always a winner. They have some german bottle beers, but I take a star away because they didn't have any lager! The very nice waiter told us it was on backorder! Also, The bathrooms are outside of the restaurant near the parking, so you have to go outside to go to the bathroom -so beware. However, this place is close to the Corporate offices on Cypress so that's a big plus! Definitely a good place to go for food, but it was pretty quiet and full of an older crowd when we went at 5:30-7:30pm. I hear it does get more youthful as the night goes on (as I overheard from a woman dining next to me) but if you are looking for a lively German bar scene - this is not it!

Get your German on! Authentically delicious and amazing. I normally make my own schnitzel and spaeztle but can't have a holiday season without having some good stick to your ribs home cooked tasting meal like this. I am so glad I tried it - not sure if everyone knows they are open for dinner and it's worth getting over there soon. Just yummy.

This quiet little and I mean little, restaurant is a nice little breakfast spot. It is a very small restaurant and it tends to get packed, so you WILL be waiting outside in the patio for a few minutes. Parking is awkward to say the least and it is cash only, even though its 2009. Definitely worth a try if you want something new for breakfast, its a cute spot.

This was my first experience at Cypress Nook Restaurant. It is quite a charming, little place, tucked back near the canal. It looks like a little house, and feels very homey. The decor is very simple, and there are only 12 tables. They are very busy for breakfast, so expect to wait a bit - but it goes by pretty quickly, and they offer coffee to those waiting. Cash only. CNR is a family-run place - you'll recognize the proprietor right away, a talkative German woman with a great accent. The dining area is quite crowded. We had several people help us, and one of them was very friendly and took her time to help us. Otherwise, service felt rushed. The staff became significantly more friendly after a server knocked over a glass of tangerine juice onto my date's meal! They comped the omelet and were very apologetic. I appreciate that the place is very busy, but I think the staff could put a little more attention and effort into making their guests feel at home from the start. The food was tasty. The juices are fresh (tangerine juice, yum!) and the coffee was good. We ordered blueberry pancakes, and 2 omelets. Everything was slightly undercooked. We asked them to cook the pancake a bit more. Otherwise, I thought the food was very tasty. Next time I'll try the brat! Overall, Cypress Nook is a very cute place, and I would definitely go back. The service and attention to details could definitely use a boost, but I was happy with my meal. It's a quaint place to go for a brunch date, and with good company, it's a fun place. As far breakfast places go, there aren't many good, independent ones in the area- it's either Einstein's bagel or IHOP, neither of which are as appealing. So support your local German-American restaurant!

Very charming place with good food and service. This restaurant used to be a small home and it has a very nice vibe to it.I went with a group of co-workers and the service was excellent. The owner, Ilse came by and introduced herself to our party. She was very friendly and she made me feel like I was eating at her house, not a restaurant. Our server, Denise was very witty and had a nice personality. She took care of our big party with ease and was very efficient. The food was very good. The corn beef and hash made my mouth water and the grits were real creamy, which I like. The home fries were also very good because they had the right balance of onions and seasonings. My coffee was served in a mug that I think my mother has in the cupboard at her house lol. It was pretty cool. Remember to tell Denise that Dan " The Virgin" sent you and Stay Hungry!

I've been to the Cypress Nook several times for breakfast with my mom over the years. The place itself is very quaint but parking can be quite a challenge on busy days. Their breakfast is pretty straightforward but since it's a German restaurant, I like to get one of their sausage plates with either bratwurst or kielbasa with eggs, potatoes and toast. Sadly, I've never been impressed with their potatoes which is the reason for my 3 star review. Neither their homefries or hash browns really do it for me so they usually get left behind in the rapture of the bratwurst or kielbasa....YUM! Oh yeah, and the servers are quick to keep your coffee full but they don't take credit cards so plan accordingly.

This is a cute little breakfast /lunch place literally tucked in a nook on Mcnab Road. There is typically a wait for a table (especially late morning) on weekends but it's well worth it. They have free coffee (self serve) putside on the patio area while you wait. The Farmers Omelet is delicious (what looks like a whole carton of eggs filled with potatoes and browned onions and topped with crispy bacon strips). The schnitzel was also tasty (maybe a little on the tough side). It's a tasty little place with a fairly large menu consisting of regular breakfast items, lunch sandwiches, with a fair amount of German specialties thrown in. Also, I don't know where else I can get a frosty cold German import with an omelet.

Cute little german restaurant off the beaten path. The ambiance was nice, although we were probably the youngest couple by about 20 years. I ordered the sauerbraten with spaetzle and red cabbage, and my husband ordered the weiner schnitzel. Started with potatoe pancakes, which were okay, but could have been better. Overall, our meal was okay but nothing to write home about, good beer, and good service.

Is it so selfish of me to not, tell you about this spot because it is so small? and it does tend to get packed?? Well, that saying about secrets to be kept...... I would love to honor for my own gain. But Y U MM Y !! I have to share!! I love this place and its true home environment and complete execution on breakfast ... everytime. Never Fails, the wait is long, no call ahead reservations so, if you are starving plan another day for this. If you dont mind the wait and the free coffee - Thumbs up..

We had our first experience at the nook tonight. Inside it is cozy and super cute. They give you bean spread for the bread, which was very good. The wine by the glass is a generous size, which I really like. The main entrees were very good. The red cabbage and spetzel were excellent. Mom's key lime pie was light and delicious. The service was friendly honest and helpful!

(5)Charmie P.
(4)Shamika B.
The location is definitely a nook! It was a small but quaint place. The staff was great and the food came out pretty quickly. My family had the French Toast, pork chop breakfast and Kielbasa breakfast. Everything was made to our liking!
(4)Steve W.
Great German food! Nice Biergarten as well! They have evening specials and discounts for repeat customers. Michael, one of the proprietors, handles the evening kitchen himself. This place is a real treat. Koestlich!
(5)Nicole S.
(5)Danielle J.

(4)Mindy B.
Best German food in Fort Lauderdale. Tiny little place but full of charm. Family owned and operated. Get there early to grab a table and enjoy some great German beer (bottles only).
(4)JL Q.
(4)Denise A.
Cyprus not a lot they have great omelettes as well as their sandwiches a crab meat sandwiches are fantastic my husband and I love to go here for breakfast I think it's just the one and only place to go and always get a satisfied meal and it's so nice the manager is so nice and everybody there is just so friendly can't think of a better place to go I highly recommend this place to everybody it's the best place in town to eat
(5)Dale F.
This is a great little German resturaunt, there brats and knots are delicious, breakfast omelets with potatoes and onions inside,be prepared for a wait on the weekends, its alittle pricey but worth it for the great home cooking you get.
(4)Dave S.
The food is exceptional and the atmosphere is incomparable. Breakfast, lunch and dinner it's a can't miss dining experience. I recommend the red curry wurst .
(5)Stephen S.
The place is Tiny inside but has plenty of seating outside.. Been a few times for breakfast and both times have been very good. Waitresses are fast to offer coffee & Water refills..I need to come back for dinner and try the yummy German food on the menu..
(4)Justin V.
My Favorite breakfast spot in Pompano. Great specials and great food. Actually best German restaurant I've been too since back home.
(5)Janet L.
(4)Dawn O.
Food is amazing. Best german resturant in the city. We had the jäger snitzel and it was truly heavenly.
(5)Gary H.
(1)Babs S.
(5)Jacob Y.
(3)Pappy H.
(4)Monica T.
This place is just what it is a small little quaint place, hands down one of the best breakfasts in town. Locals love it, bring cash because they do not take credit cards.
(4)Einn A.
food ordered: 6oz pork chop, country hash, 2 eggs, toast, side of kielbasa sausage and orange juice food: pork chop was on the drier side... but nothing steak sauce couldn't save... country hash, eggs and toast are pretty standard breakfast fare.... nothing too special about the kielbasa except that it came with a large service of mustard. orange juice was fresh squeezed. parking: small lot in the back of the restaurant. misc: there are a few tables in the patio area that can be used. it was a drizzy day when we went, so sat inside. interior ambiance felt like the inside of a cottage. very cozy.
(3)Nairy D.
Best breakfast and best lunch. Food is always delicious and we have been going there since early 90's . The owner is always very friendly and welcoming and she is in her restaurant every single day. That shows her commitment to quality and great service.
(5)Lindsay H.
YES.
(5)Anthony G.
The place is pretty nice. Definitely not fancy, but very pleasant and with a very attentive service. The food was cooked well, prices and portion sizes were reasonable.
(4)Kristin C.
(4)Phil C.
We are visiting from NE. We had the western omelett,.home fries it was excellent. The service was good,Waite staff friendly. Get there early or you wait for a short time.
(5)Lance B.
Absolutely delicious! Will be going back there soon. Save room for the German chocolate cake! It's awesome.

My wife and I come here every chance we get for breakfast. I love the brats and kielbasa combo. There dinner is also very good I recommend this place all the time.
(5)Pat D.
(4)Greg S.
Amazing food and with a quaint atmosphere.....been coming here for years.....may have a little wait to be seated but totally worth the wait. Farmers omelette is incredible......love this place!!!!
(5)Jeff H.

(5)Dorothy F.
Excellent breakfast. My boyfriend's family has been coming here for years & years. I made my first visit on our last vacation and can see why! The staff is friendly and attentive. My eggs and hash browns were delicious and others had their giant pancakes. They pour a great mimosa too!
(5)Jessica S.
Love this little spot for a great breakfast. Have yet to try it for dinner yet but I am sure it is just as good! Has been getting out business for years and will continue too.
(4)Michael D.
(5)Olivier D.
Had a very nice dinning experience. Staff is very friendly and a very good menu to choose from. Great food and easy access too. I would definitely recommend!
(5)Tim C.
They added alcohol.
(4)Holly M.
(2)Eric F.
Best grits in town!!! Elsa is the best hostess. Need to go back soon.... The wait is worth it, get there early....
(5)Blake R.
Very, very bad service needs more waiters and chefs food was watery and the wait was unbearable! If I were you I would just eat dirt instead.
(1)Marqus R.
I've been going here for near a decade and have always had really good meal at reasonable prices with friendly, knowledgeable wait staff services. I'm also happy to say that over that decade nothing has changed, as there really is nothing to it that should be changed. It's real nice just the way it is and shouldn't be fooled around with. It's a smallish type of place and the word "Nook" in its title name perfectly describes it along with the quick, almost dinner type of fast service and atmosphere. The food is clearly German in every way and everyday there is an extensive board menu of specials from which to choose. It's also a very popular place with a cross section between various workers and business people for breakfast and lunch as well as a good segment of retirees. Hence, the restaurant and the parking facility both fill quickly, particularly during lunch hour. Most of the food is authentic German in everyway, though you can get the usual eggs and bacon breakfast, sandwich lunch or other with an American food bent to it. The décor and atmosphere are best described as "nooky" sort of a diner/rustic camp/café cross between that uniquely enhances ones dinning experience. Every time I've been there I've noted many of the same patrons, most of whom have come to know each other by name and many of whom the wait staffs also knows by name. So, the business is clearly repeat customer business, which speaks well of the establishment and its faithful following. The portions of food served are large, plenty of sauerbraten, red cabbage or whatever and served at what are reasonable prices. Also, a there is a very good beer selection.
(4)C W.
Delicious! Portions are huge!!! Had the schnitzel (pork) and it was so tender. The hackbraten was also amazing! The atmosphere is quaint and authentic. Will definitely be coming back to this little hidden gem.
(5)Nicole K.
We enjoy the cypress book for breakfast. We went for dinner and it was very good. Homemade food, nice staff. For Sunday breakfast get there early it gets busy. Small restaurant but quick service.
(4)Kristi B.
(5)Juan A.
Awesome food, great people. Everytime i come here I leave happy and satisfied! Today I had the Zuercher Geschnetzel with saurkraut and mashed potatoes, it was extremely good!! And they just started taking credit cards!
(5)Halla S.
We love this place! It is fun, quaint, and the food is delicious! The red cabbage is the best I have every eaten!
(4)Dave H.
(4)Doug F.

(3)Tom A.
I moved here from Cincinnati, Ohio where there is a large German heritage, and I have been to many small bier gardens and the famous Hafbrau hause, and I can honestly say this place is the best German restaurant I've ever been to.
(5)Tracy A.
(4)M R.
We had breakfast here and we liked it!! Good freshly squeezed orange juice, yummy mushroom omelette, great potatoes, great blueberry pancakes, yummy rye toast. Great place for breakfast!
(4)Bill T.
(5)Michael H.
(2)Diana D.
Great family feel, super cute cottage look, great breakfast food located near my work, can't wait to go back!
(4)Andrew P.
(5)Tony F.
FL.
(4)Samuel J.
Fantastic little gem, great food, service is fast and that's what you can expect from institutions that have been around for 20 years.
(5)Mitch B.
(4)Anne S.
(2)Brad S.
(3)Josh B.
(4)Kerri G.
absolutely love the atmosphere the owner the servers the food is great. one of the greatest spots in Pompano Beach to go eat breakfast lunch or dinner
(5)Candice C.
(5)Jim J.
(4)John B.
We enjoyed the (authentic, it seems to me) German dinner entrees at this small, homey, neighborhood restaurant. Prices are reasonable, and the service is friendly and efficient. This was my first time eating German food.
(4)Steven R.
Very nice little cabin feel. Breakfast is as good as it gets, there are long waits when the season is here
(5)Margie S.
(4)Mary P.
(5)Scott S.
(5)Courtney W.
(4)Sue A.
We and all our family have been coming here for over 25 years for delicious breakfast and also wonderful German lunch specialties. Excellent food quality and portion sizes at a great price. They have the best staff you'll find in the area too. Go and enjoy yourselves.
(5)Holly S.
(4)Shane H.
(3)Joel A.
Amazing food! Would have given it a 5 but we were kinda surprised that they refused our credit cards, and that they only take cash at lunch and credit cards at dinner. Would have been ok if we had seen a sign stating this somewhere.
(4)Connie G.
Great breakfast! Prepare to wait if you go at a busy time but worth it!
(5)Cathleen R.
I love the German foodso delicous, big portions......real home cooking.Great place, different from the everyday food.Good prices too.Why go to some crummy chain restaurant when you can go to the Nook.
(5)Jason B.
Very consistent quality and friendly staff. Very authentic German breakfast and entrees always a pleasure. Need a bigger building!
(4)Jonathan A.
(2)Steyr A.
(5)Pat C.
Sheesh!
(2)Jennie J.
Small and intimate. A lot of care goes into the food and decor. The servings are huge and the meals are delectable.
(5)Renzo C.
(5)John And Shel G.
(5)Stef F.
(4)Trev P.
(5)Franz K.
(5)Sarah E.
Most authentic German restaurant I've ever been to in S FL. Best Kielbasa hands down!!! Great place to recover from a hang over for breakfast :0) Just remember to bring cash!
(5)Kevin M.
(3)Bryan O.

Just yummy.

Still my favorite breakfast place in Pompano Beach for years.

Tiny little dive with delicious food, and friendly staff. Wife had Hungarian Goulash with red cabbage. I had the Schweinshaxen. All of it was outstanding.
